The Problem
The issue is that most food ordering app's menu does not show calorie information. Besides that, not all healthy food options were available.
The Goal
The goal to be solved is to create an app that allows users to view all healthy food options with calorie information for each menu with the ability to have full control and select high or low-calorie diet special food items.
Design Process
This project followed the below Design Process, which includes empathizing with users, Defining Project goals, turning an idea from concepts and brainstorming to Design, Prototype, and understanding of the project.

Design Timeline

User Research
Summary
I conducted interviews to understand the needs of the users I'm designing for. Working adults who want healthy foods were identified as a primary user group through research.
This user group confirmed initial assumptions about HealthyFood customers. However, research also revealed that healthy food was not the only factor preventing users from ordering food online.
Other user issues included a lack of calorie information for each menu item and a lack of diet-specific foods.
Research Goals
We would like to learn about the specific challenges that users face when trying to complete the Healthy Food App's core tasks: item selection, ordering, and low-calorie food selection.
Foundational user research was conducted on ten users between the age of 22 to 32, the goal of this research was to prioritize the users by putting them first.
The interview was the main research method and was conducted to get more in-depth information.
Some of the interview questions include;
-
How long does it take for a user to select and order healthy food from the app?
-
Are users able to successfully order the healthy food that they want?
-
What can we learn from the steps users took to order healthy food?
-
Are there any parts of the healthy food ordering process where users are getting stuck?
-
Is the payment process easy for the customer?
-
Are the nutrition facts helpful to users while ordering food?
and more
Pain Points
Healthy Food
Most food ordering apps did not provide all healthy food options.
Lack of Nutrition Facts
Most food ordering apps did not display nutritional information for each menu item.
User Personas
Personas were created for a target user group based on the user research that was carried out earlier.

Define
User Story
User Stories are fictional one-sentence stories told from the perspective of a persona to inform and inspire design decisions.
I want to be able to search and order healthy meals
So that, I can have more time for myself and my health
User Journey
A food ordering app that provides healthy food with nutrition facts for each menu.

Design
Paper Sketch

The goal of the Paper Sketch is to help me convey the idea at a high level and get feedback before I proceed to the Digital Wireframe.
Lo-Fi Prototype
These are the early designs of some of the important screens.
Hi-Fi Prototype

Usability Study
I ran a test with five users in our target demographic using the prototype.
The design was well received by the participants, who found it simple to use.
There were a few complaints and suggestions, which helped me improve the user experience by creating a useful and pleasant product for my users.
Takeaways
What I learned
While working on this app, I discovered that the first concepts are merely the beginning of the process. Each iteration of the app design was informed by usability research and peer feedback.
Next Step
Conduct another round of usability testing to decide whether all the pain points have been addressed. More user research should be conducted to learn more about areas of need.
